II Meeting of ABECO &

VI Symposium on Theoretical Ecology

August 19 - 22, 2018 at Campinas - SP

 

ABECO (Brazilian Society of Ecological Science and Conservation) meetings are important events for people who work in ecological research, application and outreach to keep up to date with the latest developments, network and exchange ideas. We expect the attendance of a diverse group of people, including reseachers, postgraduate students, analysts from environmental agencies and NGOs.

This second meeting of the ABECO also continues the Theoretical Ecology Symposia (SET), which began in Belo Horizonte, MG, in 2004, and were incorporated into the first ABECO meeting in Gramado, RS, in 2016. In 2018, the joint Conference RABECO-SET will take place at Campinas, SP, hosted by the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). The schedule will be compact and diverse, composed by seven lectures by internationally renowned researchers, 15 symposia and two debates. Participants will be able to contribute their work in pôster sessions. There will also be several fringe events, each with a more restricted number of slots.

At the RABECO-SET 2018, a broad range of issues will be discussed, highlighting those where ecological knowledge can substantially contribute to solve critical problems. The motto of the meeting reflects this challenge: “How can ecology be relevant in times of crisis?”
